Whilst I am a business owner in Farndon, I am also a resident so have views from both sides about the proposal on building houses on good agricultural land. I have watched at least 4 housing developments go up in the last 15 years and we have had more than our fair share of houses. Many of these new families commune and use the B classification road to get to Chester. This road already has a lot of traffic including farm traffic (which are getting wider as farmers have more fragmented land). This makes it dangerous for cyclists using the road. The extra houses will create extra traffic, which is very evident when roads get closed in Aldford for bridge repairs or Sandy land for sewer repairs causing chaos. Secondly, I don’t want Farndon to become the same shambles in parking that we have on the Malpas high street. People already mount the pavement to get past each other as the road is narrow when one side is parked on for the residents. The memorial hall and private  car park used by businesses and village visitors, school users etc are not enough for the amount of houses locally and village users. Thirdly, there is more flooding now when it rains as the extra buildings, robes and non absorbing drive ways displace water into the roads and sewers which don’t cope. One house on the main road was flooded several times since the new houses went up on Barton Road, which were previously fields that used to house the flood water every year. A fourth point which is close to my heart is medical provision. Amalgamating Farndon , Tattenhall and Malpas surgeries, doesn’t create more GP resources, it just shares three overflowing practices as there are new houses in each of these villages and no extra space for provision of a GP surgery and associated parking. Another valid point despite not having any children but the school is full and the changes to policy with private schools may not help the situation if children are displaced . These houses are family homes, children need schooling and need nurseries and teenagers need entertaining. So we need adequate parking, water handling, school and GP provision and the road needs upgrading. A new GP surgery towards monument place would be ideal, with the current t surgery being used fur car parking for the village. Option B is the most favourable if we have to have more houses. These should also provide some 2 bedroom provision and affordable houses. We like our green field land and don’t want to be joined to Churton or become a town. Farndon has history and too much growth will ruin its charm.
