The Local Planning Authority notes that this option is likely to include large urban extensions around Chester and that green belt releases may be required. In assessing green belt releases CWAC are requested to note that the existing green wedges in Flintshire and the fact that Future Wales reference in policy 22 a green belt for Wrexham and Deeside to be delivered through the Strategic Development Plan for North Wales. If CWAC decide to consider drawing the green belt back on the edge of Flintshire, it should be done in such a way as to not undermine the openness of designated green belt / wedge land either side of the national boundary.

Each option has its own particular pros and cons and it is not considered that it is for this Council to state a preference for one option. It may well be that there is an option which represents a hybrid of the three options. What is of more concern to this Council is whether the spatial strategy would result in potential growth areas adjoining or in close proximity to Flintshire and this is addressed in the section below.
