Mouldsworth Table B.21
I&O_5304
COMMENT FROM MOULDSWORTH PARISH COUNCIL The UK has about 28 million homes. It is understood the government wants to build 300,000 extra homes per year. This represents about 1% additional homes per year . Mouldsworth is a green belt village, it now has 132 properties. In the last 15 years there have been 21 new houses built in Mouldsworth, this represented 1% per year growth : 10 houses on the former Station Yard (brown belt) 4 houses on the former Garage (brown belt) 5 houses in a barn conversion on Smithy Lane 2 houses in-fill on Station Road The Plan’s ‘Option C – Sustainable Transport Corridors’ has Mouldsworth (because of the station) as a key transport hub. For information the train from Mouldsworth to Manchester Piccadilly Station takes 1 hour 17 minutes and stops at 13 stations on the way (not ideal for commuting). There is an alternative that also takes over an hour to go to Manchester via Chester Station. B Potential growth areas – additional information Table B.21 Rural train station: MOULDSWORTH The proposed ‘Option C’ includes 3 building sites on Station Road, Mouldsworth. These three sites (MOU01, MOU02, MOU03) have apparently a combined area of 4.36 hectares / 10.87 acres. The table proposes building 133 houses at a density of 12 houses per acre (31 per hectare). This density is double the housing density of recent Mouldsworth developments. 133 more houses would exactly double the size of Mouldsworth, this is a lot more than 1% per year! In conclusion Mouldsworth Parish Council wants to strongly object to the idea of building 133 new houses on Station Road . We understand that this is only one option being investigated but the logic starting that Mouldsworth may be a key transport hub seems flawed.
