Yes- new developments offer easy opportunities to contribute to increasing woodland.  A 2:1 replacement ratio barely achieves what is required to meet sustainability aims. A minimum of 3:1 should be considered ,with higher compensation planting ratios set for woodland and shelterbelt areas (ref Trees and Planning in Wales, Jan 2024).
